Default clutch problems

Hi people new here and 2 cars.I was told my clutch was bout 2 go so i went and bought a new 3 peice clutch.I have been quoted by a few garages that it will cost £140 2 fot it.My question is this is that a bit dear just 2 fit it?

3 piece clutch? What about the flywheel? While its all out its sensible to do the dmf.

On my focus (non ST) I had the clutch done for £300 supply and fit.

As i say im new 2 cars so i was only told about the 3 piece clutch i knew nothing about the fly wheel i ask for a clutch he asked a 2 peice or 3 peice as he said while the clutch was out its good 2 change the cylinder nothing about flywheel.

DMF failure is usually before the clutch but will happen eventually. Supply and fit clutch kit, DMF etc ran us at about £650.

Complete false economy replacing the clutch without the DMF at the same time. Any decent mechanic should be advising you as such.

It was a mechanic that told me 2 get the 3 piece he said the flywheel will last as long as the life of this new clutch

They can go anywhere from 70k upto 100k. Ours had gone at 74k, we thought it was the clutch, when it went in he had it all apart and the pressure plate was on its way out and the flywheel was fucked.

With respect, if your mechanic is saying your flywheel will last the life of the clutch he's not very familiar with DMF's. Very unlikely it will last another 70-100k therefore costing you again to have it all apart and replace the DMF.
