Angry ST170 Reverse issues please help!!!

Hi I have a 2002 st170, had the clutch and gearbox changed over 8 month ago and it has been spot on since however it has suddenly become incredibly easy to accidently engage reverse instead of first gear, I was wondering if there is some sort of bush or spring which makes it pop over to reverse like it use to any info would be great?? so I can change it or adjust it out,
Before I end up reversing into someone at a set of traffic lights ha

Not too sure if it is the same, but on my old mk2 ST there was a small solenoid built in to the gear selector mechanism that would open when the car was stationary allowing you to engage reverse. When the car was moving forwards, the solenoid would close, thus blocking off reverse. Could be worth a look to see if the st170 has the same?

Yeh i adjusted the gear cables.

The ST170 my mate owned is now mine lol.

It took me 20 mins to do. Theres a clip on the gear cable at the gearbox end. I unclipped it put the gear stick in neutral and pushed the clip back in.

Im originally from Darlington but ive just moved to Aycliffe.

I used to have a puma before the ST17O. I loved it. I did a bit to it too. Bigger brakes bucket seats and so on lol.

I love my ST too. I paid 60p quid for mine. It got both the climate amd custom pack on mine.

I like the look of them there's nothing else like them really, I'll likely get it painted and go back to it, I like to have a bit of different car to everyone else

Yeah the bodywork is solid nothing but a little patch on the door probably from a scratch and the drivers sill could do with a bit attention..other than the flaky back quarter it's in canny good nick for a T-reg ford lol
