Do you need to key the bonnet open? In which case its out with the drill to remove the bolts in the bonnet lock
You won't see the mess behind the grille afterwards

Not sure if their the same as a mondeo mk3 but you can squeeze a 10 mm ratchet spanner behind and undo them, real fiddle though.

Cables stretch with the heat, once you get it open make sure you change the cable or you will have the same issue every time. Think you get the barrel and cable assembly from ford for about £40 but it will need tumbling to fit your key.

the focus opens with a key...... Are you using the the correct key? (valet key will not work so I am told or give access to the boot)

Mine 07 plate has this issue, the cable from the key hole to the latch is broke. It goes into a like male to female connector you will find that has broke off. I now open mine with a long screwdriver after removing the cable. Get you arm right up grab the cable and yank it down only way to get it open unless you destroy your grill.

It's the ignition key that does the bonnet lock which I'm sure he knows lol
