Firstly Hi,

Right I have a ST170 was driving home last night when the EML came on just as i pulled into the drive, I am used to this however as the car has a full exhaust system on it and no CAT.

Plugged my scanner in expecting it to be about a lambda sensor like normal but no a P1581 came bk unknown fault so googled the code somthing to do with a electronic throttle or something but when i looked under the bonnet my throttle is a cable.

So any help would be greatly appreciated

my dad had the same problem with his, i tried many times to fix it, there is a secondary airflap control type thing that fails on them, its about £200 from ford for the part

 

inlet manifold runner control (imrc). dont buy a new one until you google the fixes for it first. will save you 200. think the spring fix is on focus fanatics. try a search
