Hi everyone, I have recently been made redundant and lost my company car. I have a couple of escorts but needed something reliable to get me and the family around. Was looking for something large enough but also with a bit of power.
After having a look around I spotted the perfect solution on Auto Trader website. A 2002 Focus St170 estate in silver. 1 owner and only 39000 miles and a bargain at £2500!
So I drove up to Blackburn with a mate last wednesday to have a look.
First impression was good, nice and clean, good condition, but wrong front bumper, (no fog lights) but not too bad. Upon properly checking, the front slam panel is rusty, both front wishbones are rusty, front and rear brake discs very rusty, looked like it hadnt moved for years.
I asked the salesman about history, he said car had come from main dealer as part ex, but whilst in his yard someone had broken in and stolen the bumper, and nothing else, when asked about the front panel he said it had been in his yard for nearly year with no bumper thats why it was rusty. He replaced it in April this year as well as getting a new MOT, he also had a HPI certificate for it.
Looking at the service history he had, the car had only done 100 miles since 39k service in 2009! The Mot had advisories on all four brake discs and pins in front suspension corroded. The salesman then said the bonnet had been stolen too, then he added front drivers wing, then headlights and finally the wheels were Mondeo ST wheels!![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
As we walked away after saying no chance, he dropped the price to 2k cash, one final look confirmed everything, the chassis number on the log book didnt match the tag on slam panel and also didnt match the windscreen numbers!!!! when we asked the salesman he then admitted the car had a whole new front from a much older focus! I asked how it passed MOT and HPI, he said it was all ok and no problems! and he would take an offer under 2k!
Sorry for the long story but we could not believe it, changed his story four / five times then said the car is genuine with 1 owner 39k miles still counts despite having numerous wrongly fitted parts. The car is in a yard in Blackburn, under the name Kendal Motors, Bruce Street, Blackburn, Lancashire, BB1 3EE. Registration YE52 ATX. Stay away from it.
Its a nice car from the windscreen backwards
Just wanted to make sure no one makes the journey to view it or buy it and lose a lot of money.

Thanks for the link mate, asked a local bobby about it, he said to report it to local station and they would sort it, not had chance yet am going tomorrow.
Yeah, the chassis number on drivers floor matched log book as did the windscreen number in the dash. But the chassis plate on slam panel was totally different, I tried to take picture of wrong chassis plate on my phone but the guy wouldnt let me.
