Default st170 running problem

Hi all, coming to work yesterday my car started misfiring,i parked it up and checked for dtc code on dash and none were listed, on my way home it was fine for approx 4mile then it started misfiring again, and the eml started to flash, when i got home i checked the dash for dtc code and it showed d073 (something to do with the cooling system) so i removed the connector from the thermostat housing and the car ran down the road with out any sort of misfire ( i had a similar prob with my escort si and the temp sensor was the problem), although, as i expected, the gauge wasn`t working and the fans cut in autiomatically, i have just changed the temp sensor incase it is that but havent had time to try it out as i`m still at work, but have had time to start the car and unfortunately the eml light is still on, do i need to get this reset at ford or does this mean the problem remains, any ideas on the light or other reasons for the misfire welcome, i`ve had the car since 12th sept 2010, it has full history and i did a full service on it myself three weeks after i got the car, including new frod spark plugs, i should say when the car is cold it was running fine til the engine warmed up, cheers, roy

Disconnect battery for 30mins this will clear code. You cant actually properly read dtc codes from the dash you need a code reader.

thanks for that mate, been reading some other posts on here and notice you changed the clutch on yours, did you keep the dmf or fit solid flywheel, central florida motorsport seem to have some decent kit at decent prices, doubt the import tax will be decent though

I have a clutch masters stage 3 aluminium fly and kevlar clutch from cfm. Cost 90 in import tax but all in was still cheaper than a dmf and clutch from ford.
