Default St170 headlight question

Hi there, apologies for my first post on this site being one looking for help but I'm in a bit of a hurry with this one! I had a mishap involving some ice and a gate post the other day which resulted in one smashed drivers side xenon headlight. I've been on the lookout for a replacement but they seem hard to come by, or pretty pricey and I'm on quite a budget at the mo. My question really then is whether I can replace the pair with standard st170 lights without too much messing about or whether anyone out there has any other helpful suggestions?

The ST170 has Xeon lights as standard, guess you have looked on Ebay etc? You may be able to replace with a standard headlight but really you would have to do the pair and by the time you have done this it's probably cheaper and easier just to buy a replacement Xeon, there is a trader recently joined on here "Carparts Express" that promise to be cheaper than Ford and so it may be worth giving them a try.

The Xenon headlights were an option extra for the ST170 only as part of the comfort pack, 80% of the ST170's i see do not have Xenon headlights just normal ST ones, you need to get hold of non xenon ST170 headlights, you may need the loom too. The ST170 non Xenon headlights are unique to the ST170 also. Dont bother with non ST170 standard headlights they look pants

The wiring plugs on the engine bay loom are different so it will take a lot of buggering about to make them work.

Cheers guys, I had a feeling it might be a pain sticking normal st170 ones in. Scoured ebay for the Xenons but no joy. I'll give Graham a try and see where that gets me!

Turns out a xenon headlight is going to set me back £405. Eeek. Not an option then. Does anyone know details of the buggering around required to fit a set of normal st170 lights?

i did the reverse on a set of mondeo lights that went for normal to xenon, and trust me, it's a bit of a mare

first up you've got to get a patch loom made up to go between the xenons and the normal lights, which means you have to gut the xenons to get the plugs off the ends, but more on this later

do your plugs look anything like the ones listed here ? in which case you can source them from a mondeo, much easier

to be honest I have no idea what the plugs look like, cant bring myself to go and pull it apart in the snow, too depressing! Unless I can find a cheap xenon it looks like that'll be the only way to go though.
