would i be mad to assume anyone would do a straight swop with one/ mine ???

Depends what the FRST is worth but i very much doubt anyone would do a straight swap. If it's just a run of the mill FRST i would say your car plus Ł2k would only give you a choice of the lowest end of the FRS market, you would need to add another Ł4-5k for anything decent.

there are good 5k mk1 rs's 2 of my friends have bought good sub 6k non writeoff mk1's in the past few weeks

I agree they can be found for very little money hence the reason mine is no longer for sale.
