Nav/reverse camera issues
Hi all,
Just joined so this is my first post, really hoping someone can help and offer some advice.
I recently bought a 59 plate Frs with LUX 1 and 2. I must admit i rushed the sale abit but the excitement took over and as a result i overlooked a couple of things...
The Sat Nav does not work, the screen comes up fine but it wont calibrate and as a result wont find the car, it currently states i am in southend somewhere and i am definately not! The second probem i have come across is that when i engage reverse gear the reverse camera doesnt come up on the screen, sensors work fine. needless to say its taken the shine off my new purcahse somewhat
When i approached the dealer (not ford specialist) regarding these issues he agreed to fix them (or at least attempt to). The code for the radio was sorted by ford and the car booked in for diagnostics. Ford stated it required a full software wipe and update however i got a call today saying that unfortunately this hasnt resolved the problem. Ford will be phoning the dealer monday to discuss the issue further and they have suggested it needs both a new camera module and NAV module, each costing approx £800 from ford (as an estimate - price to be confirmed). From previous conversations with the dealer he is reluctant to purchase these items and would rather send the unit off to be fixed which leaves me without any radio, cd, aux etc for god knows how long.
My question is... does anybody have any suggestions regarding other possible fixes and does anybody have any advice from a legal standpoint? I really do not want to be without my entire radio unit for what the dealer can only describe as quite a while. Can i refuse this and force him to pay for ford to order and replace it all? the way i see it the car was not fit for purpose when sold or in line with the original advertisement.
