Exclamation Double Din Depth?

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCI 115PS 03 Reg Zetec.

Just need to know what the maximum double din depth is.

And would this give room for wiring too?

Cheers
JM

Theres plenty of room down the back of the dash for normal wiring.

Depth wise, i thought most double din units were mostly the same depth, same with single din headunits (which you can use too).

ahh, should have explained.

I'm not looking to put a standard head unit into it, I'm looking to put a mini-ITX computer in there however I need to know how big I can make the case.

I think in your case its best to pull out the HU and measure up.
Think there is more room below the rear than at the rear face so cables exiting the rear underside might help.
Is this pc system for mass music storage ? just curious as i fancy the idea but im not pc techy enough to do it.
Quite a few in-car pc set ups on TA that seem to work well.

I think that will be best.

I'm doing it for a few things, I had a carPC in my old car but never did too much with it other than music. It also looked awful, the screen was just sort of stuck on the dash.

I'm hoping I can get an all in one sort of thing on a 7" touchscreen.
So hopefully:
Mass Music/Video
SatNav
OBDII
Digital Radio
etc

This sort of thing is nice:

Don't forget the standard hole isn't double din, it's 1.5 din. You can fit a double din unit in, but you will need to chop out bits of the inside of the dash board.
