Default focus mk2 towbar wiring

Hi

Can anyone on here describe how to wire the towbar electrics on the towbar i have just fitted?
I have bought a 'Ryder straight bypass relay' but i do not understand the instruction sheet at all. Here are some of the things i am wondering about:
  • do i have to cut existing wires?
  • the sheet talks about a power source from the battery - not sure about this?
  • does it wire into the rear lights?
The guy who i bought the bar from said it was easy - is this the case?
I could really do with a step by step guide that an idiot can understand!

Many thanks

There SHOULD be a connector behind the trim somewhere all ready for you to plug straight into, however I beleive you will need to take a trip to Ford to have the GEM re-programmed to 'turn it on'.

this bypass relay seems to have connectors for wires to go into rather than a plug in system?

Default towbar electrics

The mk2 focus can be wired without the use of the bypass relay. If the car has a bulb failure warning light, then the relay is required.
