How many of you guys use em? and if its going to get really cold out do you plug em in and leave em on all night?

 

I've never known a single person in the uk use them, doesn't get that cold here, only about -15C on a really bad winter.

well thats what i told the guy... i have never used mine at my house in Georgia here in the states.... and it gets -10F about -23C on very rare occasions. my main residence is in Florida and thats where the guy im asking for lives... i told he didn't need to use it. Thanks for the info

 

I have a friend who work sin the Kamchatka region in Siberia, where's it's routinely -50C and more, they don't use block heaters either, they simply don't turn them off if outside, as they won't restart, or keep in a centrally heated garage, with a block warmer as well!!

U can get a night heater on dafs than pumps the coolant round the engine via a pump in the night heater so the cab is warmed via the normal heating vents in the dash unlike a normal night heater that sits behind the drivers seat.So when its running it also keeps the engine warm but they are very rare i have only ever seen one on a top spec xf 105 that drives abroad alot there made by eberspacher

 

Believe it or not I've got one fitted to my MK1 Focus TDDI and it is brilliant. A Kenlowe hotstart. It is a 3kw unit and will heat the engine in about 30-40 mins. Not need to keep it on all night, just use a timer plug.

Instant heat from the heater as well as the fuel savings on cold starts. Have been a real bonus this winter. Quite pricy but I'm looking at keeping it a long time and transfering it from car to car. Should have bought one years ago.
