One thing I know for sure is make sure it's genuine not a replica. Heard a story about a Mk1 RS on Piston Heads for something stupid like £5000 and it was obv a replica.

i bought a 02 RS last year in nov and it was totally feckd! i was not a happy chappy the car was fine on the test drive etc, but problems started appearing had to have new turbo n head, sum1 had fekd bout wi it snapped bolts in head etc, dodgey ait filter feckd turbo, sum crap garage in london fitted a wheel bearing wrong and it had wrecked the hub itself. its cos me about 4k to put all the problems rite.

only thing iwould say is if you no what ure doing then make sure you check EVERYTHING n dont worry bout what the seller tells u or how hes looking at u ure buying do what u want. if not maybe take AA or RAC? or a decent mechanic, my rs is awsome nw its all fixd no traction control tho

you should have looked over the car better if your spunking out circa 10k for a car
dont need traction control, use your right foot to control it,never had any issues controlling mine running 20psi circa 300bhp

as all fords look out for rust, everywhere
check the charge cooler pump works, not a dear fix
like all cars check for accident damage
check to see if its had a clutch done as there around 1k supply and fit
water pumps are discontinued from ford so if it goes your fukd.sure the guys on the rsoc are trying to sort this issue out.
non return valve hose known to perish and cause stalling, idling issues
not any major things go wrong
