Hi, just wanted to ask a few questions about FRS electronics.

1. Does the car have a GEM unit like the mondeo mk3s?

2. If you buy a second hand ECU (to replace a faulty one for instance) what else do you need to get the car running? Do you need the matching transponder chip out of the key and does this also have to match the transceiver ring around the ignition barrel?

3. If the car does have a GEM and you replace this does it have to match the ECU etc or does it just need reprogramming with the alarm fob?

4. If you replace the clocks in the car for another set of OE RS clocks, do they need programming into anything or do they just work?

Any help regarding the above questions will be very much appreciated as I'm hoping to put an FRS engine into another car but want to get everything worked out before I start. Cheers, Craig

 

its the ecu that runs the engine no gem

fit another ecu you need the key or get your key programed by ford that is all you need to change

the clocks will work in any focus

you will need to fit the full loom if its going in to a 3 door focus

 

AD4 - plug&play, but the mileage goes with the clocks...
