ok story is..

2002 st

bout 3 months ago all of a sudden car wouldnt rev past 5,000 revs,someone looked at it and change fuel filter and seemed ok..

2 months ago car just wouldnt start.. was told shit in tank.. was flushed and cleaned all ok again

last month just didnt feel right so took it to jamsport and the tested it to find ECU was not telling throttle to open 100%... or something.. sorted again..

today they been on isle of wight for weekend wouldnt go above 90mph and wont rev past 4,500 even out of gear...

anyone got any ideas????

2002 st? Do you mean st170 or later new st?

 

be an st170 mate id have thought. somethin electricals gone on it. crank position sensor? the dual mass flywheels are known for going tits up on these, might have somethin do with it but it sounds electrical..

 

early st170's suffered from the fuel pump failing done quite a few!! easy way is to borrow a fuel pressure guage and see if the pressure drops off. had one that was fine for a few weeks then would play up then when i went to look at it ,it was fine.

 

Hmm, i've had exactly this problem too. Changed the fuel filter and i've not noticed the problem since! Coincidence?
