The best springs to get for the Focus are the Eibach's. They lower the car 30mm and can be purchased from Ford, as they were an option from new. They come very highly rated from all Focus owners on FFOC. I had them on both of my Mk1 Focus's.

I ran 17" on both. Had 205/40 & 215/45. The 205's I found to be very hard and not as comfortable as the 215. They were also like rubber bands, very thin looking.

I personally don't think eibachs make the car look low enough.

I had some cheapy g-max springs on my old focus, they were ok for the money, have a look in the pictures thread on here at my car, you'll see the drop.

if i was you i would just lower it 30 or 35mm so you keep some ride quality and still have performance.

i think the g/fs is lowerd around 50mm its quite bumpy and we do get the exhaust scraping over speed bumps etc but this may be due to the sprots cat also even tho the car is lowerd 50mm still bit of body roll in it as its still on the standerd shocks but as there nearly shot going to buy some coilovers here a pic of hers mate

your back end sits higher up mate.if you look at the silver focus up above he says that his birds car was lowered 40 or 50mm and the focus is lower.

the rear is a pain to change the springs. i couldnt find any compressors that would fit in so took it to a garage and found my bushes had gone aswel (apparently common on the focus) so bought some polybushes and got the lot changed at once, id take it to the garage mate if you dont have the right tools.

Mines is about -65mm on coilovers. Tyres are 215/35/18

the only way to get a focus to sit level is to get different height springs (i had -35 front and -50 rear) or coilovers

honest mate dont bother lowering it.i had a focus saloon on 60mm pi lowering springs with escort cosworth alloys running 205/40/16 it proper looked the bollocks but with the speed bumps round my way anyone other than myself in it and it would hit the sills and floor which is not wot u want plus even when i went other bumps after putting the original alloys back on it still feels like every pot hole u hit is like hitting a wall.as for rear springs if u still want to go ahead and do it cut the original springs in half while the cars jacked up and u should be able to drop the lowered spring straight in save taking the back end apart cause there a bastard to do lol

ive got a focus st170 apparently with 50mm red? lowering springs unsure of make at the front and looks like the standard st170 suspension at the rear, and was also thinking of either buying new setup either eibach but thats not very low, or h&r but thats still not very low, or some weitec that would lower it 30mm, or try and find some 50mm rear springs to equal out the rear of the car, any ideas?
