These are two totally different types of engines. It's a blacktop Zetec-E and a Zetec-SE. Most parts are different and so is the gearbox, too iirc!

The engine's will fit no matter which way they face, their the same mounts. But like has been said, you will need the gearbox, engine loom, driveshafts etc. for the swap

There are two different 1.6 zetec engines (as above).. the E and the SE.. I believe the only 1.6 E engines (black top) are in the Mondeos, not Focus.. all 1.6 foci are the Se.. confusing I know.

The silver top engine found in a Zetec S is a an "S" badged lump. Later it had the black top "SE" engine, which is much stronger IMO, and the Focus also has this engine as has been said.

These two engines are exactly the same, there is no difference apart from the colour of the cam cover. The early 1.4/1.6 focus (up to Y reg i think) had the silver cam cover, same as fiesta zetec-s, from then on they were fitted with the black cover.

That's completely wrong, as I Nitroused the 1.4 SE and 1.6 and saw great results in comparison with the silver top. That, plus the fact the black top has better quality components and a 5-10bhp increase of power over the silver top.
