I think it has something to do with the length of time since they where posted. You can change the settings somewhere.

it has been set so that by default you only see posts from the last day. why i dont understand.

Just adjust it in your profile fellas. Set to one day means your pages are served faster as it doesnt have to work out how many pages for last 10 years etc, before it shows you what you want to see. Mostv regulars are fine with one day or maybe a week.
