Default Possible misfiring- how/why?

Hello!
Ok, just wondered out of curiosity if anyone's experienced the same thing and/or can shed any light on the matter:

My RS has occasionally has trouble starting and when it does it revs quite low for like the first 20seconds but back to normal. Also when it does this after having trouble starting, the battery light hovers for a bit but then dissapears. I apologise in advance if I haven't explained it very well but My boyfriend is a mechanic for subaru and he had a very quick look at it for me Sunday evening and he says its misfiring and nothing to worry about? Not exactly sure what this means or if it's anything to worry about...? So just really wondered if anyone can shed more light on this for me?

Cheers in advance for any info/advice

Poor running on start up is a sign of AE map which is regarded as the better of the two maps that ford gave the FRS.

AF will cure the poor start up but will give you a cough at between 4 and 5k rpm
