Default Focus reliability

Hi i have had enough of my escort it is f**ked everyday something breaks im sick of it thinkin about gettin a 1.8 focus how reliable are they and what do i need to look out for when buying one also do they have the same crap bottom arms as an escort i have nothink but problems with mine cheers ben

The Foci are pretty good. You need ot check electricals and bushes, other than that it's just normal stuff. A 1.8 owner would tell you the full run down of car related issues, but Foci in general are pretty good.

Also check the central locking works as the motors go in the door and can cost a bit.

the wifes had her 1.8 for 3 yrs ,only probs were coil pack, easy swap and rear bushes which were absolute twats,the bolts rust into the sleeves inside the bushes and the nuts are welded on to the arms so you cant even knock the bolts out otherwise highly recommended! they do like regular plug changes though [platinum]

My mam has a 1.6 16v focus she has had it for about 5 years now n all ive done 2 it is rear coil spring n a air con pollon filter seal due 2 been leakin. I think the focus is a really good car.

Interested to know what the reliability is like on the focus rs's? Any major problems with them, reg faults?

damn I havnlt changed my spark plugs for 50k now do you recommend to change them radman? I assume you mean the normal genuine ford ones for 1.8?

I have had no major probs with my 1.8 quite reliable usual bushes and pads and electriv window problem but otherwise good as gold!

plugs are normaly 36k miles i use ngk ptr5a-10 s
