Default Boost controllers and engine advantages

Last week i fitted an apexi boost controller to my focus rs and on friday had the car setup by EA.

All i have to say is there a top bunch of blokes down there very nice and what they dont no about the focus you could write on a postage stamp.

The apexi boost controller is the nuts and after seeing the blitz it's gotta be apexi all the way.

I was well happy after getting 301.3 bhp and 348 lbs/ft @ 1.3 Bar

Cheers,

Jim

What mods have you got?

On your signature it says you have bluefin, manifold and decat, sounds like a lot for just those mods

I have a decat, manifold, bluefin, boost controller 18-19 psi

It's setup spot on the way they have set the boost controller has made it such a better car no wheel spin in first it spot on going for the gt28 next to take it to 370bhp.

Ill put the graph up tomorrow.

Dan if you dont trust me you could always give them a call 01376 502522

cheers,

Jim.

Couldn't agree more mate, my Blitz has transformed my car, is holding around 18-19PSI in top channel.

I made 285.2BHP and 333.5lb/ft yesterday with this...

Ford Motorsport Manifold
Mongoose Decat
Mongoose Exhaust
K&N Gen II
Pro Alloy Charge Cooler
Bluefin
Blitz SBC ID 3
Bailey DV-30
Samco Boost Hoses
Denso Iridium ITV-22's
Magnecor KV80's

The way the boost comes in now in top channel is so aggresive they had big probs with traction on the rollers!
EAs figures do usually seem a bit optimistic tho imo.

All cars will come out slight diff ive been told and dont take this the wrong way nath the things like air fliters and the uprated charge coolers are not doing alot for the focus rs.

The boost controll is the tits.

In the lower setting im getting 250bhp just for going to work and back

Still out runs the new st i play with most days... if u are frm harlow and drive past gates every day all i can say is gutted.

You're not worng there mate, my Dad's standard one made 241BHP! Thing is, once modded, they usually make very similar figures with similar mods.

Trouble is I can't keep mine out of the top setting! It drives great in the lower ones but the temptation is too strong!

I had SCC set mine up. I'm afraid to say I have to take EAs readings with a pinch of salt after Kev.H got 295BHP there with just Bluefin and full Miltek! How it performs/drives on the road is the important part though and an aftermarket controller has definately made the world of difference!

I'm not saying i dont believe you, i've just never heard of any RS getting that sort of power with few mods.

Bore off Steve.

The whole meaning of this post was to say how good an aftermarket boost controller was not to slag off E/A rolling road or there figures.

Cheers,

Jim

All rolling roads come out different. It depends how often they are calibrated who’s doing the calibration ect…

All cars will come out diff depending on what petrol you are using ect if you’re an evo reader you would have seen the by putting Tesco 99 octane gave the new golf gti 30bhp on test so you have to take in all factors air temp, petrol, rolling road these so many things that could change the figures at the end of the day.

One thing I no is the focus rs with more is the tit’s and boost controller allows you to blast off the line like you have 4wd the way E/A have set mine up is wicked you would have to drive it to appreciate it.

If your happy and the car feel strong who cares what anyone else is saying.

Cheers,

Jim

Get the Powermeter add on, then you can adjust the boost against the rpm to help eliminate wheel spin.. Should of come standard really like the Apexi and Turbosmart ones..

I know where you're coming from mate and did consider it. It put me off as it's something else to mount, which would then look ugly, my controller is spot on, on it's own...

Other thing that put me off is the fact that there's more factors than what speed you're doing as to what boost you want, ie weather conditions, would rather fiddle with my new toy as I go!
