Focus ZETEC SE EML light
Hi all,
Recently purchased a 2002 Focus 1.6 (ZETEC SE) engine.
Car is blowing hot air within a mile or 2 the temp gauge etc is reading normal,
thermostat is fine, water pump works.
EML light comes on giving code P1131, any ideas on what this is related to.
Pictures for reference incase i have the isssue staring me in the face.

After a quick google search seems to suggest it's the pre-cat lambda sensor at fault, pretty common for them to fail. Could also be a vacuum leak, cheack carefully at all the vacuum hoses for any splits or damage. Does the car idle smoothly?

P1131 - Lack Of HO2S11 Switches - Sensor Indicates Lean
It could be the sensor but usually this means the mixture of the car is lean.
Or at least the ecu is thinking the mixture is lean.
It can be a small leak in the exhaust near the Oxygen sensor - but then the car would be using a lot more fuel. Otherwise you are looking at a defective sensor or a blocked fuel filter.

Ok thanks, there was a hole in the exhaust but it was in the backbox, which is now sorted.
Ill look at replacing the sensor and hoping the problem goes away by doing so,
as its a new car to me i have no idea what normal on fuel is so couldn't comment on if it is using more than usual etc i know it was sat for 6 months before i bought it.
