Servicing question
I have just booked in my 2005 Focus 2.0 petrol for a major service at Ford at 55,000 miles (so nicely below the average mileage for the age).
Aside from the standard work that gets done as part of these services, I was wondering if anyone had any advise about extra stuff I should consider asking them to do that might not be part of the standard service schedule.
The main reason I ask is that sometimes in the mornings when the car is cold I find first and second gear are a little sticky and difficult to get in. Once the car has been running for 5 minutes and things have warmed up it's absolutely fine. So I was thinking maybe I should get the gearbox oil changed? I asked if it was part of the service and they said no, but that if I wanted it done just to ask when I get there (no idea what they'll try and charge me for it). It's got me thinking what other things I should be checking out for.
Thanks

I would advise getting a price for a gearbox oil change, when the flywheel went on mine obviously the box oil was replaced when it was all put back together and I was staggered by the difference and this was on a car that had only covered 43K !
Some of the boxes are apparantly "sealed for life" but when it was cold mine sometimes needed a push to get into first gear on a morning. Since the oil change its as smooth as silk.

Box oil is a good one to do. Only ever put the pucka ford stuff in though as other stuff just won't work, I know as I've tried others! Its pricey but worth every penny!
If the brake fluid hasn't been replaced in the last 2-3 years that will also need doing.
Fuel filter is worth doing if they're not planning on changing it.
I guess by now you've had the service though.
