Another limp home diesel..
I have tried researching this but haven't found an identical scenario, so here goes....
My 2009 1.6 TDCI started to limp home about 2 months ago. It would happen after maybe 50-100 miles on a trip. Switching ignition off and on cleared it for the next maybe 100 miles.
Garage checked ODB and diagnosed faulty EGR valve, duly changed with a pattern part, fault recurred. Good guys said sorry and fitted genuine Ford EGR at no cost, fault recurred.
They borrowed an ECU from somewhere, fault recurred.
I got the car back and am currently living with the fault BUT it now happens all the time and on/off clearing only lasts for minutes...
I have probed the EGR position sensor and see a decent ground at one end, about 5.4V on the ref end and 2-3V on the wiper...seems reasonable?
Current fault codes are:
P1412 EGR Frozen
P0490 EGR Circuit high
P042F EGR stuck closed
Must be duff wiring of position sensor to ECU?
Where is the ECU, not under the wheel arch surely, that would be insane!?
Advice would be much appreciated before I throw cash at the main dealer....
Thanks in advance.
Peter.
