TDDi EGR Delete
Noticed the other day the 3 wires going to the EGR have been cut on my Focus TDDi, I would guess that should throw up a code and put the engine light on straight away? If so is it possible its been 'mapped out'. It hasnt had any other work done as its slow and the cat is still on and doesnt look like its been touched.
Car runs fine!
It doesnt have a blanking plate on it, is it worth putting one on? Im guessing the EGR is constantly closed if its not plugged in?
Thank you!

The 3 wires are for the EGR level/height sensor, they don't operate it, it's operated by the vacuum pipe, there's a solenoid on the bulkhead just behind the EGR valve that controls it.

Would blocking the vacuum pipe do the same as fitting a blanking plate or would it be open all the time if I blocked the vacuum line?

There will be a fault code logged, but not probably enough of an important fault to put the light on.
Those wires can get damaged with engine movement, not necessarily cut.
Vacuum opens it, so it will be closed with the vac line blocked.
