Default Mk1 focus mot query?

Hello all
My focus is due mot November.
Driving along my street earlier a small exhaust heat shield has fallen off and in the process broken one of the 2 exhaust hangers from the cat and thus leaving just one (they are opposite each other on the cat and not parallel).

Is this a fail?

Cheers

If it makes it insecure then yes it will fail. I think it is very unlikely that a flimsy heat shield would have caused an exhaust hanger to break off, sure it hasn't been missing for a while?

I noticed the heat shield started rattling yesterday. As I knew what it was I left it. Its fell off today (stopped and collected) and when I reached home looked underneath. I found the bracket had snapped so removed via the rubber. In hindsight I didn't see any fresh metal so maybe been snapped for a while?

Even at the last mot?

If it is a fail is a new cat expensive and do you get any money off for recycling your old cat?

get some new brackets welded on will be far cheaper than getting the cat replaced
