Hi, Purchased a facelift mk1 focus 1.4 cl earlier this week and wanted to ask about central locking - It currently works on the key but I wonder If I can pair a remote up to it?

i fitted a cheap Ł10 kit to my focus. real easy to do as well. when i bought mine i could only use they key in the doors and the buttons didnt work but try this first (if you have key with buttons on):
jump in car and insert key
turn key to pos. 2 on lock and back to 0 again 3 times and you should hear a chime.
press any button on key and you should hear another chime
key should not lock/unlock car from buttons. if not key is knackered. cheaper to buy a cheap c/l kit and splice into wiring.

 

Only just come back onto this thread since asking thought there may have been more replies lol... Anyway I tried the above turning key so many times etc. but i didn't get any chimes

In the end I visited my local scrappy, removed a gem off a focus tdci ghia and acquired a remote key someone had left in an ignition fitted them and paired them up and all working a treat now plus it's give me one touch indicators too which are great for motorway driving so i'm a happy bunny.
