Just brought a 02 1.6 zetec and the rev counter needle jumps/flicks up or down when driving, the revs on the engine don't change, just the needle flicks and then returns to where the revs are.

I've heard it could be battery issues, but before replacing it I thought I'd ask.
Any ideas?
