Default rear brake problem

just put new calipers on my 2003 Zetec Focus. if I hook both handbrake cables up, the left side rear disc gets really hot after driving a short distance. if I unhook just 1 cable on either side it doesn`t do it.

the handbrake is definitely releasing as I can see the lever on the back of the caliper going all the way back to the stop.

any ideas?

Sounds like they need adjusting up. Take off the leather trim around the handbrake lever, you will see a nut on the side of the lever on the end of the cable. Make sure this is unwound and hasn't been tightened right down. Then there should be an adjuster for each caliper further along the cable, underneath the car somewhere!

The nut is loosened right off at the adjuster on the hand brake itself. as it is now, there is no tension on the cables at the caliper end at all. I don`t see any adjusters under the car and discs spin freely until it gets driven.
