Default eco tuning

hi guys, i have a 1.6 petrol focus auto 2010 which is a bit heavy on the gas, just down the road from me a autotune garage has opened with promises of lowering fuel consumption by 25% or even more. has anyone tried this, if so could you please give me details of the highs and lows, and would it have any effect on guarentees. thanks in advance. ps the price is 200 euros. kelsan

The warranty (guarantee) will be void after this tuning.
I personally don't believe a word of it.
A petrol car is more or less controlled by the oxygen sensors most of the time, so that the catalyst works.

If your car is using too much fuel, it must be checked.
Could be an engine problem (faulty sensor) or sticky brakes or a fault in the automatic gearbox.
How much fuel is it using?
Has the fuel usage gone up lately?

Fuel usage is greatly dependent on how the car is used. A lot of short trips around the town with a cold engine will use more fuel. Driving up a mountain full throttle also doesn't help.

Car manufacturers try really hard to get their cars to be as economical as they can. If they could make it 25% more economical for only 200 euros then they would have done it from the factory.

Except diesels, where the manufacturers hands are tied by EU legislation regarding emmisions. Modern diesels are mapped from the factory so the fuel is not burned 100% but the emissions are low. We never check diesel emissions after the car is built, so you map it to run more efficiently, and ignore the EU emissions restriction, and you have more mpg and performance.
25% gain on a petrol? no chance.

thanks for your thoughts on that. i have spoken to autotune and they say around 10% on fuel and 19% on hp. dont think i will bother,it will be a diesel next time, more economic all round.
