Ford focus 1600 Automatic.
Started the Car from cold and a whiring noise appeared when I put my foot on the accelerator, seemed to conected directly to the accelerator.
Thought it sounded as if it was coming from the engine fan, any ideas?

 

engine fan is electric so will not change pitch etc when revved, could be a belt or a tenisoner/alternator if it only does it when standing still but if its only when driving the worst case is a gearbox issue

The noise is when the car is stationary and when I'm driving but seems to be linked to the accelerator .

 

It would be best to make a video and post it up as there is a lot of 'could be this, could be that' but without hearing it no one can be sure

 

I don't know how mechanically minded you are but if you can, take the alternator belt off and run the engine, only for a short period, if the noise goes then you know it's either the belt or something that the belt drives.
