Hi all,
need some help please. I have a Ford Focus 1.6 zetec 05.
i recently noticed a slight jolt whilst accelerating then the other day the engine light started flashing and whilst accelerating it felt like it had no ooommmmpppphhh and the power just seem to go.
I took the car to car garage and the done a diagnostic test and it came up showing missfire cylinder 3. They had a look and they said there was water and they dried it out.
Now the car is ok ish but still jolting while accelerating sometimes feels like its in the wrong gear and its also started to smell of petrol.
If any one has any ideas that could help would be very gratefull.

Spark plugs mate had the same issue many times with these !

 

Ok Thanks now what would be the best spark plugs available for the car and best place to get them from or does it really not matter.

 

Just go to your local motor factor with reg and get a set of NGK plugs

 

coil packs are common

 

Will buy some spark plugs and hopefully that will sort the problem if not will have to try something else.

Could be the coil pack, very common to go wrong on these. Put genuine Ford plugs in, zetecs run best on them and they are often cheaper than aftermarket ones.

 

and the water will be coming from your washer jet common also to fill the rocker cover with water
undo the heat material on your bonnet and test ya washers

 

Was just gonna buy LTR5IX-11 spark plugs of eBay for about Ł25 would they be ok.

 

Now engine light is back on same story as before had a look and there is water in with the spark plugs.
I mean where is the water coming from it was dried out 5 days ago I know we got alot of rain but does that much really get in there that fast is there anywhere else water can get in there.
What can be done?

 

There are uprated washer jets from Ford, they have a rubber seal under them that seals properly against the bonnet that stops the rain water getting in. Either that or it's a leaking core plug, but then you would be loosing coolant.

 

This is quite common.

 

Just put silicone around the underside of washer jet to sell it. Only time will tell to see if it's worked touch wood it will engine light still on. Chamber dried out and drives fine gonna replace spark plugs later this week.

Disconnect the negative lead off the battery for 10 minutes to reset the light, you will need the radio code though!
