Help!!!!! S1 Still won't start NOW RUNNING 13/01/06
My car has been off the road for 12 months now due to resto work
now under the bonnet is complete the bluddy thing won't start
I've done all checks i can think of (Spark, fuel, air leaks)
The only thing i think it could be is not enough oil pressure
to the tappets causing the valves not opening proparly
I've changed the oil due to it been stud. but still no joy
Has anybody had this before any comments welcome.

It Wasnt Me!
get someone to turn it over, and hold the metering flap down 5mm, no more, no less
If your getting spark and fuel and compression, check ignition timing, std 12 degree's tdc vacume unblocked, 11 degree's tdc with vacume blocked, or vice versa.
Try a tow start. . lol

Number 1 is the connector on the dizzy at the 12'o clock position.
So as you look at the dizzy cap:
......1
3..........2
......4
I knew taking art at school would pay off

i had it running for about 20 seconds
but it run like a bag of $hit and there was black
smoke coming from the exhaust
could this be over fueling
has any body got any ideas!!!!!
these are the things i have checked

I think it's looking like a wire problem?

Alright mate
black smoke = overfuelling
Personally if you fuel and a spark my money is on the metering head being fucked. The battery leads getting hot doesnt sound too good however, is it turning over well? Good starter motor i presume?
You say its been offroad for the resto, have you adjusted anything like the idle screw on the throttle housing? Or the mixture screw on the metering head? Something else to check, IIRC, when your cranking over you should be able to see the flap on the metering head moving, going up and down slightly (because your cranking and its not fast enough to keep a constant vacuum pressure in the inlet manifold), if you cant see it moving that to me would suggest an air leak? Also check you havent left any of the little wires off the battery terminals, very easy to miss off ive done this before
Im familiar with the wiring on these aswell, but i doubt it is wiring.
let me know if this helps and how u get on

Don't be so stupid theres a company that make a compact all in one sensor, removes all the shit out of the back of the dizzy, and the new one just pushes in no wires or anything, a lot better and neater

O lol, in that case i take it all back i like your words boy (i fucking HATEEEEEE bosch KE)
I'm going EFI soon want to be able to boot it without worrying about fuelling.
Ummm, well i haven't got one myself, my dizzy is playing up (sometimes when i boot it it back fires VERY loudly and makes all the pedestrians jump) it is funny as fuck though lol, but DazRS has one, he showed me when he came round one day, i think he said its about Ł45, well worth it though much better than the shit thats in the dizzy from Bosch. Ive got a dizzy to swap with but if thats no good im just guna fork out and get one

Ummmmm, i dont know where from off the top off my head, i know DazRS, he was the one that showed me them, all the crap and wires from the back of the dizzy are redundant, and just the new sensor clips in the top (all part of the wiring plug assembly) you will notice in yours the sensor is actually at the bottom, hence the wires to connect it.
He said he found some company on the net, u want me to get in touch with him?
