No
Find the wire that operates the starter solonoid, cut it, extend one side to the button, then from the button re-join it back to the loom.
The button then makes the circuit when pressed.

Starter wire is black with blue stripe. (on older fords such as cossie's FRST's and ERST's etc, you don't say what car it is ??)
You need to be sure the button you are using can handle the solenoids current draw first !! if not you need to relay your button mate.
You need a normal 4/5 pin automotive relay.
Cut the black blue (starter wire) and connect one side to pin 30 and the other to pin 87 on ya relay.
On your switch connect one terminal to +12V (red wire in coloum, you should fuse your supply too), then the other switch terminal to pin 85 on your relay. Now just need a ground on pin 86 and ya done, if you've used a 5 pin relay just leave pin 87a as it's not needed.

if i just cut the wire, put it to my button then back to the loom, ill have to hold the key as if im starting the car then push the button.
i dont want to hold the key whilst pressing the button.
i got the switch of ebay, its a billet piece of alloy with a aircraft style switch and a big black button fot the starter. i was gunna wire it so you have to flick the big air craft switch then push the black button. the switches look pretty beefy
does the wire that goes to the actuator go to ground to make the starter motor spin??????

Good point mate !!!!!!!!!!
Cut the wire off of the barrel connect it to pin 87 on the relay. And connect pin 30 to +12v must be a good supply, would suggest defo the red wire upto the barrel !!!!!!!!
Good luck !
