Basically, a charge cooler uses water to cool down the air (boost if you like) and an intercooler uses air to cool it down.

Most CC systems use a pre rad to cool the water that cools the air.

Hope that helps

r ok cheers, so the a intercooler is good when the cars moving but a charge cooler is good in traffic because it uses water to keep the air cool

think its 132bhp. feels quite nippy. ive jus bought it, its d reg s2, its got a 31 actuator and chip, zorst n filter, but the bloke recons it was at 150bhp but he had it bought down to 132bhp because he used it for work. its abit of a mess at the mo, cable ties on the boost pipes n that, lashed up, restoring it properly. im jus gona do afew things to it b4 i get it to the rolling road, was looking at the pace intercooler, not the front mount one tho as i dont have much money, what do you reckon?

TBH the smaller PACE item isn't much cop. I would save the money and get a better item like the big Pace or a GRS. No point getting the wrong one as you will only have to spend more in the long run changing it again.

I'd spend some cash sorting the probs like the cable ties and sort the basics first:-

Exhaust
Air filter
Setup.

I would almost gaurantee a transformation in the car for you. If all is healthy you should see 160-175bhp which is nice and useable
