Default Some buying advice for a newbie.

Hello everyone.
I am new to this site. I ahve owned a few fords in the past and am going to see a series 1 RS turbo on the weekend.
I am buying it (hopefully) from a mate who took it off the road a couple of years ago, and he's a bit sketchy with the price, keeps saying we'll take cash on the weekend.
Ive not seen the car in a couple of years but from what i can remember
I think its a non custom, definately on a C Plate. white (obviously) and could probably do with a respray. It's in quite good condition, slightly below average miles. no tax or mot, but doesnt need much work for the MOT, I remeber he put new tyres on not long before he took it off the road, and the haed gasket which he fixed.
I would be very gratefull for some advice on what to look out for, any common faults etc. also a rough guesstimate at how much the cars worth, if thats possible with the lack of info ive given you.
Sorry for my long winded post.
Thanks in advance.

Aubrey

First off Welcome to Pf - and a stab in the dark from me would be £1200 if it needs a respray hasnt got an MOT.

Just look out for all the usual suspects when buying an older car, rust on the floor under the carpets, rear chassis rails, rot under the body kit etc etc.

Go with the intention of NOT buying it and then find things that make you WANT to buy it, thats a better way round of looking at older cars.

Good Luck - and if you get it, get some pictures up
