that takes me back to my old RST, there will defo be a hole sumwhere on the hoses with that hissing and it'l be in the most fookin annoyin place possible (always is)....

have you got two fans running constant? as much as most people hate them when i fitted bonnet raisers to me old 1 airflow was seriously improved and i did notice a difference. worth a try maybe??

long shot but you might have an airlock....

Hi guys its running a 4x4 saff cossie, stage 3 head, camed etc loads of other bits buuuuuuuuuuuut... a standard ic Ive only got a standard fan on the rad which ive put on a switch. The car has never done this before till it over heated once a couple of weeks ago and burst a water hose which i replaced so i think it may be an air lock. How would i go about sorting it out ?

btw ad4m rst i saw your car last night mate its fucking amazing !!! I was the white s2 with polished roll cage parked infront to the left of you.

Cheers
Sam

running a 4x4 saff cossie what?

Get a bigger IC, why oh why do you still run a standard one with a stg3 head, cam etc? what boost do you run? anything over 16psi on a standard engine is asking for trouble so think what it will be like with the mods you have!!

check easy things first off, fans kicking and switching off as normal? thermostat working fine? header tank cap sealing properly (maybe hissing noise!!) if you think you have an airlock, take the small hose off the top of the thermostat housing and run till a sollid flow of water comes out once warmed up (that's how i bleed mine and works for me)
also flush out the rad, may help a little!

Mite be worth looking at the expansion tank cap, if its not holding pressure it wil allow the water to boil, this maybe where you hissing noise is coming from?
