rs power
here goes!i have ownwed a s2 for a month now and to be honest power wise im not that impressed.
i was just wondering what power u guys would estimate it at. it has a pac
e intercooler scorpion KnN 195 chip (lots of other little bits n bobs)
this car is no dog it has been in my familly since its second owner (im3rd)but icant help but think my xr2 was just as nippy and more usable.
it has 100800 on the clock

A 195 chip is just it can possibly make igniton map wise IIRC
What boost is the car running?
There are lots of ways of looking at this i.e
Are all the bits in good working order, is the actuautor still doing it's job 100%, is fueling spot on, Are the charge temps getting too high
I would definately get a panel filter and airbox to go back on the car though, I always thought peeps talking silly saying the induction kit hampers performance - but it does - big time!!
Recommendation, get it to a tuner and be prepared to spend a little (actuator etc) if needed
You will never know unless it's with someone who knows what it needs etc

Sounds like it's in need of a damn good setup in some experienced hands. It will once sorted knock spots of your XR2.

I think you may be getting a little hung up in youre mind of what a decent RST makes power wise.Theres so much bul*shit out there with peps claiming 220 bhp,200 bhp,250bhp from their turbos that every bloke in the pub now reckons that their RST makes at least 210bhp no bother!!LOL I would advise you to get youre motor sorted out at a reputable tuner,so you know all is well and running fine.I'd bet it would feel very quick and keep ahead of loads of performance cars at the traffic light grand prix and still only get around 180bhp on a rolling road.My own car has normal RST tuning mods,makes around 180bhp and eats Cossie's every year at Nat Day,fact!My point being that a "REAL" 180bhp is more than enough in a RST to have decent performance and give enjoyment on track or on the road.Regards Micky

What a prat - sorry but it's true
I know people with RST's that have lasted 160k with no issues, StevenRW's one last 160k and did a 150mph run with only a bigger turbo and head conversion
Why risk it - if you money to burn then fine, but don't ask advice if ya gonna be a prick with it

ive been there, why waste a wedge of money sometime down the line when a simple tune will have it runnin mint
and believe me it will go at the most inconveniant time possible

it has been set up to run the boost and is set at asafe level on the adjuster by the previous owner !

You just said you turned the boost up didn't you
make sense and you may just get some sensible answers in return
It doesn't matter how many miles or how old the engine is
mine is 9yrs old and still pulling strong, 24psi through it all that time too

Get the car set up and checked. The car will last a lot longer with the right settings on it. If the oil is changed regular and the car checked/set up at least once a year then the engine will last for ages. The reason why most Fords blow up is because of an ancilliary failure of some sort. Not a mechanical failure.
I personnaly stripped the 160k miles engine down mentioned above and the bores were mint. The shells were beginning to wear so ideally they needed replacing but over all the engine was in exelent condition for the miles and abuse it had.
Look after it or you will cost yourself money.
