I want an Escort RS Turbo. Advice please!!!

Im 17 driving a renault clio 1.4rt. Im bord of it want a fast ford!!! Im on my mums insurance... who has 3 years no claims on a seperate policy of her own, shes 50 years old, we live in a fairly low crime area. Like i sed id love an escort rs turbo. Do you think im living in dream world? Any suggestions of something else? Thanks.

Nicer 29-06-2004 12:52 AM

At 17? You'll be lucky to pay less than £1500 i reckon.

Tis well worth it tho!!! :top:

bigmatt-s2rst 29-06-2004 05:26 AM

i had one when i was 18 andf that cost me 900 to insure, but that was 5 years ago, i dont think it would cost you that much if your a named driver on your mums policy, but as nicer said whatever you pay its definatly worth it :top:

adamS2RST 29-06-2004 11:29 AM

I had my first when I just turned 19, was v.exspensive. You could do the mum insures and ur a named driver, still would be not great and some companines probably would not have it, but you can try, tbh either way you will be hammered as you wont be getting any NCB if you don't have your own insurance.

salv 29-06-2004 11:55 AM

getin jealous seeing all these rs's :'(! any advise on another car 2 get?... I WANT TURBO POWER!!!! :D:D:D

swerv 29-06-2004 11:59 AM

dont know but didnt think i would see someone else with the same name as me on here

escortmad79 29-06-2004 04:43 PM

If you're on your mums policy, that'll mean you won't be getting any no claims bonus, so 17 year old with zero NCB trying to insure an RS Turbo will be hellish expensive!

paulp 29-06-2004 05:48 PM

Ihad my first rs when i was 21,2 years ago.The insurance on that was 1800 tpft, ive now gone with adrian flux and it has halved to 900, the car i had before an rs was a uno turbo which was quite rapid for a 1.3 but nowhere near as classy as an rs.The first time you buy an rs when you drive it home you wont even need the stereo on,the sound the engine makes is pukka if youve bought a good one :top: :top: :top: :top:

shane 29-06-2004 05:51 PM

im 18 wit a s2 rst with engine mods, but without mods the premium want too bad, it was wit adrian flux and was £1487 tpft.

salv 29-06-2004 06:56 PM

thank you lads... so overall opinion i could afford one? how much would i expect 2 pay 4 a decent one, should i look for a standard one? r they reliable?... my clios shit lol.

nicorsts1 29-06-2004 07:26 PM

Try Ratebeater.com, they quoted me 470 for fully comp... i was with adrian flux but they were wanting 200 quid more. Your better looking at a standard rs... u'll
maybe get away with simple mods like filter and exhaust but too many mods n u'll b lucky...

yanrs 29-06-2004 09:06 PM

IMO
;)
in standard form they are shit slow and handle badly but reliable,
-
fuel is expensive

Try www.elephant.co.uk or admiral (the same co me thinks).

Fully comp on my 190bhp RST was £465.00 for me and the missus, for social domestic, pleasure, AND commuting - but i'm 27 and 8 years NCB.

pollocks 01-07-2004 10:55 PM

also try doin it on www.confused.com i did on there am 20 with a years ncb and to insure an rst it costs 1200 a year tpft so am on the look around for one at the mo :top: :top: :top: already have sat under the bed watin to go on spax adjustables piper cross and white dials for the price of a £100 so am gettin quite excited and the stuff i got is brand new pays to b in the right place at th right time :top: :blabla:

my previous car an 1990 xr3i i had to pay £1300 tpft the car was valued at £300  but that was with my previous insurers cia.

I drove a 1.1 rover metro for nearly two years on my own insurance, it cost me £1500 to insure it myself when i was 17! :wall: Yet by 18 i had purchased an absolute minter of an S2 that was practically standard for £3895! :top: I was gonna wait til 19 to insure it and have 2 years no claims but just couldn't wait, i phoned around and ended up payin £1500 pounds again tpft but that insured me with mods too! :top: That was through Brentacre, they're quality and on my second year insured it dropped to £1200 and it should drop again this year! :D

1.9s1 19-07-2004 05:49 PM

Im 23 and pay just under £700. Fully comp, Modified series 1
