Default Sparco Strut Brace.... Good or bad?

I've got a brand new sparco strut brace sitting in my garage that came with the car when I bought it in January.

I was going to get round to fitting it this weekend, but some of my mates have said it will do more bad than good by drilling the suspension turrets to fit it.

So....

Opinions please... Should I fit it or not?

Cheers

Stu, best to get a gun on it mate, easiest way to undo/tighten top mounts!

P.s. Bigal, wtf u gonna do when u take it off ure car then? lol u gonna buy it off stu, ecide not to fit it cos it'll leave holes n sell it on for a big viscious circle

Anyone else got any opinions?

As the car is a cabby and it flexes enough already, dont wanna make things worse by drilling the strut tops!

I know thats the theory, but will I weaken the suspension turrets by drilling 4 holes in each?

stick it on. i got one with my RS and put it one straight away. It stiffens the car up and ive heard it can stop the inner wings cracking when they get old. drilling holes wont weaken the car either

I've got an alloy Sparco strut brace on my cabby.. As long as you dont drill thru a seam it perfectly safe.. Don't forget you have to (should) use massive screws, so it's good and tight..

I've just run out and taken these for you..

On my cabby..

I can honestly say that the strut brace has done more for the handling than both the Spax and polybushes put together... You'll be pleasantly suprised what a metal rod under the bonnet will do to a whole wobbly shell...

Ragtop you are a star!!!

I've got all the original bolts to fit it, nice chunky ones!!

Looks like i'm gonna be busy this saturday then. Is it easiest to fit if you drop the front suspension out??

No need to drop anything.. Just offer it up, mark up the holes and get a bloody big drill to the turrets..
Seriously, you'll need a mains drill unless your battery one is shit hot... But once the hole are in, just drop it on and bolt it up..

I think it might be a bit easier with the suspension out cos otherwise I can't get to the nut on the bottom of the inner bolt.
