Default Which boot struts?

As like most people the boot struts on my S2 are weak.

Had a search through some old thread and see people mentioning mondeo struts although couldn't find which ones?

Any help would be great.

Im using mk6 Rs2000 struts. Very slightly shorter but they open/hold the boot so well its never bothered me in the slightest

I'm sure its the MK2 Mondeo ones you want. The Escort ones aren't that bad, Its the bloody heavy spoiler putting to much strain on the struts. When I was rebuilding mine the bootlid shot up, and required decent force to close. As soon as the spoiler was bolted onto the bootlid, its opened slower, and you could close it using just a finger.

Just for your notes I've tried Mondeo ones and BMW ones they all seam pants as above the boot spoilers weigh a tone perhaps Koni or gaz should make some that work 😁

The trouble with looking for new mk4 escort or even the mk6 rs2000 ones is companies just list them as "mk3/4/5 escort/hatch/estate blah blah struts" even though I'm sure they are different strengths.

Get yourself down to a scrap yard. I got a pair of MK6 struts from the scrap yard, they fit perfect but tailgate wont open quite as high as it used to. Do the job fine with my 88 spec spoiler though.
