Just gone efi and got it running today. Didnt do 3-4miles on road test and when I got back the oil cap was off and there was a mess there and over on the breather side I have the standard breather with a pipe and micro filter on the end of it and oil had sprayed out that too
Now my first thoughts are piston rings are away but the engine and bay were dry in the frst donor car. Sort of hoping I never put the oil cap on right and cos that came of it caused the oil to blow through the breather system??
Any ideas?

How old is that oil cap? they are meant to be serviceable items, the rubber seal fails and the cap become loose.
Is it easy to put the cap off by hand?
Also you really should be running an oil catch tank, with that little filter on one of the inlet.
If you buy the Mocal tanks the cap would be the breather 'filter'.

genuine cap:

Can vouch for the seller myself.
mocal tank:

You'll have to blank one of the inlets off as the RS only has one oil outlet on the rocker cover.

its not bad, certainly not the slackest cap ive felt, ill order a new cap, think the catch tank will have to wait just tho
i had it running and took the cap off, put my hand over it and reved it a bit but didnt feel any pressure nor got oil on my hand
maybe do a compression test tomorrow

Thats a lot of crank case pressure to blow that much oil out, boost is irrelevant as that much shouldn't be getting passed the rings, many cars run over two bar and have no issues.
If the cap blow off then either the breather system is blocked or as you say the rings a really goosed, but I'd expect a lot of blue smoke if they were.

I'd say get a new oil cap tbh. For that much oil if the engine were shot you'd almost certainly see evidence of it with some of the blue stuff as stated above.
Oil gets everywhere so give it a clean, turn boost down a tad and see how it is with a new oil cap.

new cap fitted, still blows off, cleaned the breather pipes and pot out and put a bottle where the filter is at the end of the breather, next to nothing in it since thursday.
there is a little smoke from cold start up which id say is the valve stem steals, easy sort, no smake on or off throttle. left it ticking over for 10 mins yesturday and there wasnt a puff out the exhaust.
its not used oil and its not blown the dipstick out either
one way valves in the breather pot?

How have you got the breather system plumbed up? It sounds like your CC pressure has no where to go?!
Try just one hose from the rocker cover to block (stock setup) and then put the little filter on the other rocker cover outlet blocking off the returns on the EFI inlet manifold.... If it still blows the cap off then you have serious issues as that would almost be impossible! lol

Today I fitted the mfi breather set up. Still lifted the cap. I should have taken the breather filter home but never thougt. I wasnt sure about the returns on the inlet. I assume its ok to block them off
