Default No throttle response/engine cut out?

Hi all,

Help please!!

Driving home last night when all of a sudden I lost power? Engine still running but when I put the pedal down nothing, no response? I managed to pull of the road eventually and as I came to a halt the engine cut out.
I tried starting it for 5 mins and eventually it started up and I managed to get it home.

Never had this problem before and car starts fine now so not really sure where to start? Any help would be much appreciated

Check the plug on the top of the dizzy and check if its loose as this causes the wire inside to break or wear on the inside of the dizzy and earth out

Checked this and it's all fine, seems to be running ok again although the rev counter is no longer working? Any ideas what could cause this?
