Default a bit of advice needed please

just got my car back on the road after a 2 year hibernation.(prior towhich it was working fine). anyhow, i have an intermittent fault where the engine stalls all of a sudden. when i turn it back over it fires but then cuts out after a second. it then does this repeatedly till all of a suudden it decides to go and drives as normal(ish). i am after a few pointers as to where to check. i have had bother with distibutors in the past where the plastic plug breaks off but this is intact. or could it be worn or corroded inside the housing after sitting for so ong?any advice appreciated
