Default Stupid mistake with main cap

As i have a oil pressure problem i wanted to remeasure main caps and connected on the wrong way around. This together with a new torquewrench resulted in a broken side of the main cap.

Is this the end of this engine?

You mean this...

No, you can replace the main cap but it will probably need line honing afterwards.
Although to be fair if it's just that bit off the corner and it torques correctly you might be able to use it still?!

Yea sorry mate i was on my phone sitting under my car is was so defeated i put all my spare time in it and now this again. I thought it was a shit torque wrench till i realised i was the stupid one....

Yea i thought i might need the corners for the tolerance, but heard that many other engines don't even have the corners, so just on torque should do the job...

as far as im aware the edge of flanges hold the corners of the cap in to keep the main cap distance correct.

don't get me wrong ive just done a far far worse bodge than that on my old v8 putting new mains on a fooked crank but I have invested no money in the engine at all so nothing to loose.
