yep this could be it , after spending a hell of a lot of time effort and hard earned money over the last year the (new) gearbox has let go on the dyno
just waiting to hear back what the damage is but it looks like im going to have to sell up befor even getting to drive it all done. as ive just ran 100% out of money.

Feel for you mate, had my fair share of new failures (engines and box's)
What box was it, standard BC?

lol
Ah yeah so still a BC at the end of the day, the bigger bearings and Quaife LSD make no difference to it's strength unfortunately, in fact IME the Quaife LSD actually helps snap shafts as it's so harsh.

Also if it's new from CTS then is it worth asking them to do something about it, warranty maybe?
What power are you running or what's your spec as you were on the dyno and probably don't know? lol

If you want a decent but cheap box made up let me know, I have been building IB5's using 1.3Ka gear sets, RST LSD's and Escort Van non turbo casings and have yet to have one break (Famous last words) even on 300bhp Zetec turbo's.

Ratio's are almost identical to an RST, low mileage ones (sub 50k) can be found for about Ł30.

Pick up a 1.3 Ka box, a non turbo van box, send them to me with an RST box or LSD on it's own and I'll build you one for Ł100
If anyone is running a ZT and hydro clutch then the van box isn't needed as the Ka casing is rear starter and hydro clutch.

In that case you just need a MK6 escort box (rear starter, cable clutch) that's low mileage and with the correct ratio's, or that and a Ka box to take the gear set from which to be fair is a better idea as there a more low mileage ones kicking about than there are of the Escort ones.

It did what?! lol How the fuck does the rubber drive shaft seal allow the shaft to fall out?! That's impossible! lol

The seal was not pushed in far enough stopping the drive shaft from going far enough in so the circlip on the end of the shaft had not seated in its reses properly allowing the shaft to pop out.

Thanks mate, they work well for a budget option.

Ah that makes more sense! So it didn't actually fall out then, just a little to allow the oil to piss every where.
I was wondering how without the ball joint being disconnected from the hub it could actually come all the way out! lol

Excellent!
What's your spec mate, I'm guessing pretty much standard but with an IC at that power?

2.0l Zvh, low comp pistons, standard rods,Newman cam, front mount ic, t3,5th injector. Nice and safe at that. With the torque climbing didn't want to fuck the rods or the box

I would say so, it looks like a stock RST T3 as they are flat out around that BHP.
Stage 2 will flow around 230bhp and stage 3 300bhp.
