Default CO set up / faulty metering unit?

Hi all followed the instruction of my gunson co tester and it shows the car to be running 0.5 % CO. Ive been told it should be around 2.5 - 3? Anyway went to adjust and when i removed the tamper screw air started hissing from the hole and as a result the car died. This is not normal is it?

Yes Is this a s1 airflow meter
When removing the airscrew you have caused a leak

possibly have air leak anyway if its .5%

check oil cap, breather pipes and if its got a ghey dump valve, blank it off to check.

the more of an air leak you have the less your CO

Not sure if its a s1 metering unit, there is a dump valve and ive always said the engine sounds like it has an air leak but never been able to find it. just wondered if it was normal for air to come out of the adjuster hole?

hold the revs up, remove screw and adjust, its normal mate for it to die when you remove the screw.
