Default Misfire on no2 cylinder

Hi, I have a series 1 and it does not fire on number 2 cylinder. I have checked the spark and it is sparking. It has compression ie 11kg/cm (the same as the other cylinders). I have changed the tappets for this cylinder and I have swapped the spark plug for a known good one.
The only thing left is the injector ..... But I doubt it is that as the spark plg gets sooted up and every now and then it will bang back through the exhaust ie. unburnt fuel.

Also it runs ok when on full boost over 3,500rpm

Could it be something like a knackered valve seat? cracked head? Melted piston? Surely the compression test would show this up?

Wtf?

Please help!

My guess is that the injector is stuck open, so it's dribbling fuel in all the time, but when you get to high enough rpm and boost, it can then be burnt quickly enough to fire OK.

I like your therory as this sounds fairly cheap to replace!!!! The spark plg did seem a bit sooted up as well. Only problem is the car is mfi which means the injectors spray fuel constantly anyway....... But I suppose fuel could be dripping in rather than atomising in a spray as such.... Will check the injector before I take the head off.

Cheers.

My vote is injector too, mate had this on non turbo, try swapping the injectors around and see if the misfire moves.

Luckily for me I have a spare inlet manifold with injectors in. I also have an xr3i slaaag cab daily driver that I can rob known good injectors out of! Happy days! Thanks for your advice

I personally think my rs turbo just does not want to get beasted all the way from Essex to silver stone this Sunday! Never mind..... There is always next year!
