Escort MK1 Hayabusa Conversion?
I am looking into buying a MK1 Escort and i was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any hayabusa powered versions.
Or is this a stupid idea all together?

If you could get the weight down, then I don't see why not. Are you thinking of mounting it up front or in the back?

I would prefer the front. I like the idea of the sequential gearbox too. I think it would just be a case of getting the subframes made up but i was wondering if anyone had done it before.

That looks brilliant. I have had a look around and it is possible. Need to get the subframe made up and the engine needs to be roated 90 degrees so you can use a prop shaft instead of a chain. Then Quaife do a set of replacement internals for the 6 speed sequential gearbox for Ł1050 that change the gearing for car use and are more heavy duty. Then you can either fit a transfer box with a rear and forward gear (it means you will have 6 reverse gears too ) Or you can fit an electric reverse motor which can be picked up for about Ł400 from z-cars but you will only just get enough power to reverse in and out of car spaces on a hill. Then its a case of upgrading the differential to work with the power and that should "in theory" all work. Ill keep upto date on any progress thats made. Thanks for your help
