so we bought a mk2 1989 rs turbo a couple of weeks back and a few problems with it including the speedo not working (which the guy we bought it off didnt say about, till we picked it up). he said it would just need a new speedo drive.
i took the instrument cluster out as he has put a stick on white dial kit and i wasntt sure weather he had broken the dials. this wasnt a problem so while it was out we drove to see if the speedo cable was spinning. it wasnt so im guessing its something to do with the gearbox sender or the speedo gear.

if any one has any info including parts or removal/fitting , feel free to share

could just be the speedo cable i would look at changing that first
goes from the gearbox through the bulkhead and into the clocks
just a nut holds it to the gearbox

Mine done the same, it's the speedo drive and the roll pin. . Well it's still in and will prob need drilled out!!!
